ABOUT RECOGNIZE IT
Educate. Empower. Break the Cycle.
Recognize It is a free tool that helps women recognize coercive control — and helps the people who love them see it too.

Educate
We put plain words to the patterns of coercive control, so they're easier to see.
Empower
Once you can name it, you can trust what you know and choose your own next step.
Break the Cycle
Seeing control early, in your own life or someone else's, is how the cycle stops.
Built on the Duluth Model
The Power and Control Wheel at the heart of Recognize It was created by Domestic Abuse Intervention Programs (DAIP) in Duluth, Minnesota, from the experiences of women who lived it.
Recognize It is an independent project, not part of DAIP. We use the Power and Control Wheel and the Equality Wheel with DAIP's permission, and we work with them to keep this tool true to their framework.
